Zinc is a micronutrient found in foods that we consume. The nutrient has many benefits to the human body, and it is essential for us to consume foods that are rich in zinc for proper body growth. The mineral was first established to be essential to the body for human in 1961.This paper will focus on how zinc is essential to the body and what benefits it brings to the body through growth and development.Metabolism and absorption of zincThe intake of zinc takes part in the small intestines. The mineral gets converted into ions. The ions are then bound to ligands in the body before getting transported to the duodenum .proteins in the body facilitates the passage of zinc into cell membranes.
